Nursing

Nursing is the science devoted to caring for the health of the human being

The main purpose of the EuroEspes Medical Center’s Nursing Department is to maintain direct contact with the patients and their families during and after the medical consultation, dealing with the doubts that may arise with regard to the handling of the patients, advice for their care and the treatment prescribed.

Nursing encompasses the autonomous and collaborative care of individuals of all ages, families, groups and communities, sick or well and in all settings. Nursing includes the promotion of health, prevention of illness, and the care of ill, disabled and dying people. Advocacy, promotion of a safe environment, research, participation in shaping health policy and in patient and health systems management, and education are also key nursing roles. Blood extractions

The performance of blood extractions, mainly for the performance of analytical tests.

Electrocardiograms

The electrocardiogram is the graphic representation of the heart’s electrical activity, and its main purpose is to facilitate the diagnosis of cardiovascular diseases, showing cardiac frequency, enabling the diagnosis of myocardial lesions, the detection of arrhythmias and other heart disorders, to be assessed by internists, cardiologists and expert physicians.

Monitoring blood pressure

This is the measurement of the pressure exerted by the blood against the walls of the arteries. Its monitoring and regulation is highly important for our organism, as alterations in the same may cause serious health problems.

Holter blood pressure monitoring

This diagnostic test enables the continuous recording of the blood pressure readings over a preset period of time by means of a holter. It is performed on an outpatient basis and its duration is usually 24 hours. Its purpose is to diagnose and monitor patients with arterial hypertension and/or cardiovascular disorders.

Audiometry

A test which enables us to assess a patient’s hearing and to determine whether the person hears well or not. Its purpose is to register hearing disturbances regarding acoustic stimuli on an audiogram.

Spirometry

This is one of the lung function tests. Its interpretation cannot establish a diagnosis, but it does make possible the dismissal of ventilatory limitation. It likewise enables us to assess the response to the medical treatment prescribed by specialist physicians.

BM test

This enables us to rapidly measure capillary glycemia. It is a simple test consisting of performing a small puncture in the fingertip to obtain a drop of blood which is deposited in a glucose meter. In a matter of seconds it gives a reliable reading of the glucose level in the blood. It is used principally to detect sudden drops in glucose (hypoglycemia) and to monitor glucose levels in diabetic patients.
