New recognition for EuroEspes

The European Economic and Competitiveness Association has awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Workplace to the EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center of La Coruña.

A Coruña, June 19, 2017. In a solemn ceremony held at the Eurobuilding Hotel in Madrid, the European Economic and Competitiveness Association, chaired by Ms. Myriam de la Sierra y Urquijo, awarded the Gold Medal for Merit in the Workplace to the EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center in La Coruña. The medal was presented by the Honorary Vice-President of the Association, Mr. José Luís Barceló, to the President of EuroEspes, Dr. Ramón Cacabelos, Professor of Genomic Medicine.

This distinction, shared with other national and European entities, is awarded to those companies that stand out for their competitiveness and innovative capacity, contributing value and exemplarity to the society in which they operate.

The EuroEspes Biomedical Research Center, throughout its 25-year history, stands out as one of the most advanced research centers in the world in diseases of the nervous system, aging and dementia, and for the implementation of genomic medicine in medical practice. EuroEspes scientists have developed more than 200 research projects and have made more than 2,000 international scientific contributions. Among the most spectacular results of this research are the EB101 Vaccine against Alzheimer's disease, approved by the United States Patent Office; the Atremorine product for Parkinson's disease, registered at the European Union Patent Office; the EuroEspes Pharmacogenetics Card for the personalization of pharmacological treatment; and the first World Guide to Pharmacogenomics.
